Mind Leak

If you ever want to be a motivator of any sort you have to learn how to deal with two types of people. There are the self motivated people who might come to you with a problem, receive your words of encouragement and not have to come back to you because they can take it from here. Then there are the people who come back again and again always needing some more encouragement. These people always need to be pushed. They can’t stay on their feet if you’re not there to hold them up. You find yourself hoping that you have given them the right tools to make a difference in their lives once for all but the next day, or the next week, or month they come back in need of more. I warn you about these people because although we love them if you’re not careful they can have a negative effect on you.

If you’re not careful these people, without meaning to, can drain you of your strengths and burn you out. It’s like trying to fill a cracked cup with water. You pour water into it and although it seems full for the moment after a while it will not be as full as it was. These people are suffering from what I like to call a MIND LEAK. No matter how much of your words and insights you pour into them there is a crack in their mentalities and they will need to come back for more. After a while they will leave you empty of anything you can give them and this leads to burnout.

In order to solve this problem you need to find the crack and patch it up or make them a new cup. You need to find out what caused the crack. Perhaps some tragic event that still hurts, or a betrayal that they are still emotionally facing, or it can even be their low self-esteem, whatever it is, Find it and help them Fix it. Do this as soon as possible so that you won’t have to invest anymore of yourself into people who are just going to leak it out of their minds. I personally know a lot of people like this and they are not bad people. I have tons of love for them and as the excellent motivator I consider myself to be I will help them find the leak, face it , fix it and move on to live the happy, full life they were meant to live.
